Our Story

Just Swim Charlotte was created in 2013 exclusively for the purpose of swim meet administration. Our goal was to deliver a fun and easy swim meet experience to new and veteran teams alike. Swim meets for our participating teams typically last anywhere from 2hrs to 3hrs. Technology is an instrumental tool in alleviating the burden on volunteers, and we have a collaborative atmosphere among coaches which puts families interests first.

In 2025, Just Swim Charlotte expanded our programs to offer technique training, spring, fall & winter programs for swimmers aged 4-18 years, with a focus on high school swim prep in the fall for those competing on local NC high school swim teams.

Coach Jason has been an active member of the swimming community since his swim journey began at the age of 8. He swam competitively throughout the years, repeatedly reaching New York High School State swimming championships, which culminated in four years as a collegiate swimmer for the Buffalo State University Bengals. Wanting to bring his love and knowledge of swimming to his own children and the community as a whole, Jason worked tirelessly to bring the sport to SW Charlotte back in the early 2010's. As the founder of both the Planters Walk Swim Team and Just Swim Charlotte league, Jason has devoted countless hours to the sport of swimming; his dedication to the area's youth swimmers is unparalleled. As a seasoned swim coach, certified at both the NCHSAA and USA swimming levels, with over 15 years coaching experience, Jason continues to share his passion and knowledge through Just Swim Charlotte's newest programs. Jason lives in SW Charlotte with his wife, Dana, and their three children.

Coach Jen

Being thrown into the pool at the age of 6 when she refused to get in on her own was the catalyst to a long and growing career within the world of swimming. Coach Jen spent her youth competing on summer swim teams both in California and North Carolina, which led to 10+ years on the USA Swimming circuit and captain of the nationally recognized South Meck HS Swim Team. As a mom, seeing the sport through the eyes of her daughter, Jen opted to expand her swim expertise and became a certified USA Swimming Stroke & Turn Official. From there she was able to support her daughter’s swim career from the pool deck all while having positive interactions and influences on the next generation of swimmers. With over 5 years of coaching experience on the Planters Walk swim team, Jen was a natural choice for a managing partner to expand Just Swim Charlotte. Residing in SW Charlotte, Jen enjoys time with her daughter and her continued swimming career on Charlotte’s Queen City Dolphin's masters team.

Coach Chris

A competitive softball player turned dedicated "swim-mom", Dana has fully embraced the community of competitive swimming. Taking over the day to day operations of Just Swim Charlotte in 2017, Dana oversaw the expansion of the summer league from three to eight teams, with over 450 participants during the season. In 2025, she partnered with Coach Jen to expand Just Swim Charlotte to include off season swim training and high school team prep programs.

Officially trading in her cleats for her whistle, these days you will find her on the pool deck, microphone in hand, dressed to the nine's in her bright orange staff shirt and running like Flash through another swim meet. Dana lives in SW Charlotte with her husband, Coach Jason, and their three children.

Ms. Dana

Growing up in and around the water, Coach Chris has been swimming since he could walk. Summers were spent at his grandparents' lake house in Michigan, where he and his brother swam daily, building a lifelong love for the sport. Whenever his community had a swim team, Chris was in the water, competing in summer leagues and refining his technique. While he pursued other sports in high school, his brother continued competitive swimming and the sport remained an integral part of his life. Now, as a husband to Jess and father of two young swimmers, Chris enjoys sharing his passion for the water with his family. Though newer to coaching swim, he brings years of coaching experience through other sports and completed his first season as an official swim coach last year. His focus is on fostering a love for the sport while helping swimmers develop their skills and confidence in the water. Coach Chris has been a fantastic addition to the JSC Coaching staff and his impact has been felt immediately.
